Making music fun in east anglia

It is with great sadness that we mark the passing of Her Majesty Queen Elizabeth II.
Martlesham Brass has always held her in great esteem and we will miss her dedication and constant care for us.
We have followed her example of making our organisation open and welcoming to all.

We look to the future when we can celebrate her life and that of our new sovereign, King Charles III.

1st February, 2002 - Monthly Update for February 2002

January was a quiet month for MB, unless you have been at a practise lately! The bands are working hard towards National and Regional band contests to be held in March and May. The music for the summer season is also appearing in practice pads, so although we may have a low profile at the moment we are working hard to put together a great summer programme, which you will no doubt get to hear later in the year. We are also in the planning stages for a couple of band workshops, more information next month.
We now have a final update on our Christmas fund raising; the final figure raised was a magnificent £1996 in street collections giving a total figure of £2419 including the proceeds from the Christmas Concert and performance fees/donations. From this we donated £362.85 to the Kesgrave Community Resource Unit, and £362.85 to the East Suffolk Group of Friends for the Foundation for the Study of Infant Death (FSID), which is the local Cot Death support group. The band also gave a concert, organised by the Kesgrave Wine Circle, who raised over £600 for the East Anglian Air Ambulance; MB were pleased to donate our performance fee to that cause.

Martlesham Brass is to hold its Annual General Meeting on Friday 8th February at 7.30pm in St Michaels Church Centre, Martlesham Heath. The contact names and telephone numbers for the band may change, so please check our web site or next months issue for up to date information. Alternatively you may contact Bruce Eyley (Bandleader) or myself on 01473 611578.

If you would like more information about the band please visit the band website at www.btinternet.com/~martleshambrass, or email us at [email protected]
