Making music fun in east anglia

It is with great sadness that we mark the passing of Her Majesty Queen Elizabeth II.
Martlesham Brass has always held her in great esteem and we will miss her dedication and constant care for us.
We have followed her example of making our organisation open and welcoming to all.

We look to the future when we can celebrate her life and that of our new sovereign, King Charles III.

19th November, 2002 - Publicity Update for December 2002

Martlesham Brass December 2002
November saw a very successful concert by the Martlesham Brass Preliminary Band, which raised over £250 for band funds. Thanks to all of you that came and supported them in this event.

The Main and Intermediate Bands participated in Remembrance Day events in Martlesham and Woodbridge, playing Last Post and accompanying the Remembrance parade(Woodbridge) and services (Woodbridge in the rain!).

The band members are now looking forward to an exciting programme of Christmas events.

Saturday 7th December - Coffee and Carols
The Intermediate Band is holding a Coffee Morning and Concert. This is being held at Gorseland School from 10am until noon. There will be refreshments and a raffle, some games and a cake stall. Everyone is welcome and entry is free.

Sunday 8th December
Martlesham Brass Main band is providing the music for the Kesgrave Wine Circle annual charity concert at Kesgrave Community Centre. Tickets are available from the Kesgrave Wine Circle. The concert will be raising funds for St Elizabeth Hospice. Martlesham Brass will be donating its performance fee to another very good cause â" Hope House in Kesgrave â" to help with their mini-bus appeal.

Monday 9th December is the start of a fortnight of Christmas carolling activities around local venues, streets and supermarkets by the various sections of Martlesham Brass. Whilst Christmas carolling is an important fundraiser for our band, every year we like to share the proceeds with worthy causes and band members are in the process of nominating their favourite charities. So please be generous when you see us out and about, as your money will be put to very good use. (And you can always ask us to play your favourite well-known carol!)

Saturday 21st December - Christmas Concert
The highlight of our festive activities is the Martlesham Brass Christmas Concert. This is being held at the MARTLESHAM COMMUNITY CENTRE (not St Michaelâs as I said last month â" sorry!). It starts at 7pm and tickets are £1.50 in advance (free entry for accompanied children aged 16 and under). If there are any tickets left they will be £2 on the door. To avoid disappointment book your tickets early by phoning 01473 611578 (ansaphone)

SAFE
Martlesham Brass is pleased to announce that we have been awarded a SAFE certificate (Safer Activities for Everyone) by the Suffolk Area Child Protection Committee. In order to achieve certification all our bandleaders attended a Child Protection training session, whilst the band committee has developed and adopted an approved Child Protection policy, which is monitored by the East Anglian Brass Band Association.

Finally we would like to take the opportunity to wish you all a very Happy Christmas.

Alison Eyley
Band Publicity Officer
