Making music fun in east anglia

It is with great sadness that we mark the passing of Her Majesty Queen Elizabeth II.
Martlesham Brass has always held her in great esteem and we will miss her dedication and constant care for us.
We have followed her example of making our organisation open and welcoming to all.

We look to the future when we can celebrate her life and that of our new sovereign, King Charles III.

Workshop extravaganza and concert

The band is very pleased to announce that we have secured the services of David Thornton to give a series of workshops on the 25th February and to play with the Main Band in our concert in the evening. David will take a Main Band session in the morning and then hold sessions for the Inters, Prelims and beginners in the afternoon.
David has been the solo Euphonium player with the Faireys band, Black Dyke and is currently playing with the Brighouse and Rastrick band. David has teaching positions at a number of institutions including the Birmingham Conservatoire and the Royal Northern College of Music. This is a day that you must not miss. Tickets for the evening concert will be available from the 13th January price £3.50. If you would like to read more about Davidâs career then please visit http://euphoniumsoloist.co.uk for all the details

Wednesday Band

You may not be aware that we are still running a Wednesday evening band session at Beacon Hill school from 7:00pm until 8:30 pm. In years gone by we have had as many as 50 players broken into three bands for a Wednesday evening but attendance has dropped and we are now down to a single band. Rather than stop these practices we are encouraging YOU to attend on a Wednesday. The music that we play is a mixture of all types and is adjusted to suit the ability of those who attend. Everyone is welcome from the newest beginner to the most experienced of Main Band players. We will tailor the sessions to suit all abilities. So, instead of that lonely practice in the bedroom, come and join us on a Wednesday and help yourself improve that much quicker.

Christmas Caroling

As I am sure you are all aware, the month of December is given over to playing carols outside local supermarkets, with all the proceeds collected going to nominated local charities. This year the total collected was £1,683.08 a splendid effort by all concerned, with a special thank you to those who stood in the cold, not to play, but to hold a bucket and encourage donations. This yearâs nominated charities are; East Anglia's Children's Hospice, Teenage Cancer Trust and Out & About. Each will receive £561.03 at the Main Band concert on the 25th of February. Once again a big WELL DONE to you all
